Samar State University(SSU) submits 15 programs to the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines, (AACCUP), Inc. for accreditation. Survey visit starts August 17, 2015 and is to end August 22, 2015. The following are the programs for accreditation;

PS-BORSamar State University is in search for private sector representatives to the SSU Board of Regents (BOR) wherein 2 position is vacant. BOR is composed of 13 members from various sectors of the government headed by the CHED commisioner and the president of the university as the assistant chair. Three of the BOR members come from the private sector. Section 5(k) is a prominent citizens who have distinguished themselves in their profession or fields of specialization of the university. The same section further states that the setting BOR shall appoint (3) prominent citizens from among a list of at least five (5) persons qualified in the Province of Samar, as recommended by the search committee constituted by the university president, in consultation with the Chairperson of the CHED, based on the normal standards and qualifications for the position. The elected private sector representative shall serve for a term of two (2) years.

ruby damage 2014The damages caused by Super Typhoon Ruby are worsed than ST Yolanda in 2013. ST Ruby damaged several infrastructures in the four campuses of Samar State University. The worst state of SSU-Basey Campus affected the holding of classes and needs immediate reconstruction. SSU Main campus has at least 3 buildings with damaged roofing, and a stretch of covered walk. SSU-Mercedes Campus roofs were also partly damaged. One SSUMC field laboratory in Brgy Popua Catbalogan was totally damaged, while SSU Paranas campus roofs was partly damaged.

SSU-Basey was the heavily affected by ST Ruby among the four campuses. Roofs were totally damaged exposing books, equipment’s and tools to rain. SSU have requested again DPWH to conduct on-site assessment to officially estimate the damage.

vpaa presentsDr. Marilyn D. Cardoso, the VP for Academic Affairs and the Dean of Graduate Studies of Samar State University recently delivered a keynote speech entitled “The role of innovation and the challenges faced by the Philippine academic sector” during the Innovation Challenges in Multidisciplinary Research and Practice (ICMRP) in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia held December 17-18, 2014. Among the keynote speakers, VP Cardoso received Shield of Honor Plaque for an "A" keynote speech. VP Cardoso also presented a research paper entitled “Organizational climate: Its implication to job satisfaction and performance of personnel in state universities and colleges in Eastern Visayas, Philippines”. She also was the session chair for track A - Business, Management and Economic Studies where she received plaque of commedation.

Nine SSU programs are evaluated for readiness for level 1 through a Preliminary Survey Visit (PSV) conducted by the Accrediting Agency for Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines. SSU hast 35 programs offered in the three campuses of the university. Nine (9) are already level 3 re-accredited and is about to be evaluated for level 4 this year. Earlier this year, three programs was subjected to PSV and late last year, two programs in the CAS underwent level 1 accreditation. Undergoing AACCUP PSV are the following colleges and programs:
